Nudging GMOs

I was surprised last week to see the Australian Productivity Commission getting all paternalistic...
consumer preferences (and hence demand) for non-GM foods are based on a misunderstanding about the health and safety of GM food. Like mandatory requirements to label GM food, moratoria could reinforce misplaced community concerns
Got that? If you'd rather avoid GM food for any reason, you're wrong.

Tasmania and South Australia are still banning GMOs, presumably in response to state-level concerns, but the Australian Productivity Commission thinks they should stop reinforcing the "misplaced community concerns" of the democratic majority.

South Australia's response was to renew its moratorium through to 2025
